IRIS Payments (or IRIS) is a payment service that allows you to accept payments (without using a card) directly from your customer’s bank account into your existing Alpha Bank account used for card transaction settlements.
The IRIS Payments service will be offered by Nexi on Nexi POS and Cardlink POS terminals, as well as on the Nexi XPay e-commerce platform, starting from November 1st, 2025.
Yes. IRIS will be automatically activated on your NEXI POS terminal as of November 1st, 2025.
Yes. IRIS will be automatically activated on your Cardlink POS terminal as of November 1st, 2025.
Yes. IRIS will be automatically activated on NEXI XPay as of November 1st, 2025, as an alternative payment method.
No. The service is activated automatically, with no installation cost or technical intervention required on your side.
For the Pay-by-Link service, as well as for e-shops using Redirection or XPay Build, no action is required.
For e-shops using Server-to-Server (Web Service API), a technical adjustment by your business will be required using the Redirection method.
1. When the transaction amount appears on the POS screen, select IRIS.
2. Then, a QR code for the transaction appears on the screen or is printed, depending on your device type.
3. The customer scans the QR code using their bank’s mobile banking app and approves the payment.
4. The transaction is completed instantly, and a receipt is issued, just like a card payment transaction.
Activation:
• For SoftPOS devices not connected to AADE, the business must install the FinConnect app following the provided instructions.
• Preloaded transactions on wireless POS terminals support IRIS payments.
• The customer selects IRIS as the payment method at checkout.
• They scan the transaction QR code displayed on the screen via their bank’s mobile banking app, or alternatively, they can follow the link to their bank’s web banking.
• They confirm the payment and are instantly informed of the successful transaction.
• The payment amount is transferred to the Alpha Bank account you already use for card transaction settlements.
Yes, there is a small fee applied to each successful transaction amount.
No, there are no other charges besides the per-transaction fee.
IRIS transactions will appear on the e-Merchants Portal.
Register now on the new e-Merchants Portal completely free of charge and stay updated on your business transactions.
For XPay transactions, in addition to the e-Merchants Portal, IRIS transactions will also appear in the XPay Back Office, in the same way card transactions appear. You received access to the XPay Back Office upon joining the service.

Yes. If you wish to deactivate the IRIS service from Nexi POS or Nexi XPay, please visit the Alpha Bank branch you cooperate with to submit the relevant request.
Please note that according to Article 65 of Law 4446/2016, in conjunction with Article 215 of Law 5222/2025 and relevant Ministerial Decisions, the activation of the IRIS Payments service is mandatory from November 1st, 2025, for all businesses except those explicitly exempted by law.
